Why this site exists and what I want to do with it…
Welcome to The Game Professor! This is a site dedicated to the world of gaming as a hobby and issues surrounding it. What kind of gaming you ask? All kinds! I mostly play video games, board and card games, but I may look into other forms of gaming as well.
If you have been around the hobby for a while, you probably know that for all the problems the world has, one problem it is not afflicted by is a shortage of people on the on the internet with opinions about gaming. So what use is a new site about gaming? Well, I have my reasons. The first reason I’m doing this is because I just like talking about games and I’ve been looking for a creative outlet for my writing. As to why you should read it, well I believe I can offer a bit of a unique perspective on games. I enjoy studying games critically. I am an academic at heart (thus the professor bit) who enjoys studying the humanities (Philosophy, Theology, Literature, History, etc.) which I think gives me an interesting perspective on game design and what games can do. From a consumer perspective, I am a young starving grad student recently married, meaning that when it comes to games I am looking for experiences that that don’t break my bank and I am often looking for experiences that both my wife and I will will enjoy.
So, what will this site entail? My plan for the moment is to begin writing a few different kinds of posts. Reviews will be one of those you can expect to see a descent amount of (also expect to see a coming description of my reviewing method). The second kind of post I am planning are articles that take a look at issues related to the hobby. Lastly, I will also be writing some pieces that act as a bit of a personal gaming journal.
So that’s The Gaming Professor, at least that’s what is planned for its beginning. I hope you find it helpful or entertaining in some way. Please explore the page and join me as we give games some serious thought.
